How ORBIX works
Four moving parts: a token whose trading fees go to ORBIX, a daily subsidy pool, holder tiers, and a router that buys inference at list price. This page walks through each one and how they connect.
The loop
- Someone buys or sells $ORBIX on Pons. 1.2% of the trade goes to the ORBIX treasury as a custom creator fee, net.
- At 00:00 UTC the treasury closes the day. All of the fees collected become the next day's subsidy pool.
- During the day, every API request is priced at the upstream list price.
- The router looks up the caller's holder tier and the pool's remaining balance, and covers part of the request from the pool.
- The caller's balance is charged the rest. The pool is charged the subsidy.
When the pool runs out, prices return to list until the next reset. That is the whole mechanic.
The subsidy pool
The pool is the only source of discounts, and it is bounded by design:
- It is funded in arrears. Today's pool equals what the treasury earned from yesterday's trades. ORBIX never spends money it hasn't collected.
- It resets daily. Unspent pool does not roll over indefinitely, so a quiet day can't be masked by a busy week.
- It is public. The live pool, remaining balance and countdown to reset appear on the landing page, the market and inside the app.
Holder tiers
Your tier is read from the $ORBIX balance of the wallet that owns your API key.
| Holding | Discount cap | Extra |
|---|---|---|
| No $ORBIX | 0% | List prices |
| ≥ 0.05% of supply | up to 10% | — |
| ≥ 0.1% of supply | up to 30% | — |
| ≥ 0.5% of supply | up to 60% | Priority queue |
| ≥ 1% of supply | up to 80% | Free daily allowance |
The cap is a ceiling, not a promise. The discount you actually receive also depends on how much of the pool is left. See Pricing and discounts for the formula.
The router
The router is what makes ORBIX an inference market rather than a single proxy:
- It keeps several upstreams per model, starting with OpenRouter, and adds direct providers where they're cheaper.
- For every request it picks the cheapest healthy upstream that serves the requested model.
- If an upstream fails or times out, it falls back to the next one without changing the model.
- It meters input and output tokens exactly as the upstream reports them, so your bill matches the provider's own accounting.
Accounts and settlement
There are no passwords. Your wallet is your account.
- Sign in by signing a message with your wallet. It costs no gas and grants no permissions.
- Top up by sending ETH or USDG on Robinhood Chain to the treasury address from the same wallet. Transfers are credited in USD.
- Spend is deducted per request after the discount. Usage and savings are visible per key in the app.
What ORBIX doesn't do
- It doesn't resell anyone's API keys or consumer subscriptions.
- It doesn't promise a fixed discount. The discount follows trading volume.
- It doesn't pay yield, buy back or burn. $ORBIX is a utility token that unlocks discounts, and every fee it earns pays for inference.
